Summer 2017 Hermès Jumpsuit

In 2013, luxury French brand Hermès invited South Africa’s 'Ardmore Ceramic Art' to collaborate on a series of silk scarves for its 2016 collection. Working alongside Hermès, the designs were made by Ardmore artists, including Sydney Nyabeze. Hermès proudly recognises Ardmore as a group of “creative artists dedicated to reinventing traditional styles, united by their recognition of what our common humanity and fraternity truly mean – namely that we each exist thanks to others. The carré marks the beginning of a new collaboration between the collective, and the house of Hermès.” So far 3 scarves have been released and the results are a beautiful eye-catching reflection of the ceramic brand’s distinct personality. The hand-rolled silk pieces are radiant, intricate, highly animated and proudly local, just like Ardmore’s carefully sculpted pottery. 'Flowers Of South Africa' features a pin cushion protea at its heart and is an ode to beautiful African blooms. It is Ardmore's third design for the House of Hermès, following 'The Savana Dance', where leopard, monkeys and Giant King Protea blooms (South Africa’s national flower) take centre stage, and 'La Marche du Zambezi', which is a gorgeous gathering of elephant, zebra, giraffe, crocs and leopard.
